These species cannot be sexed by outward appearance.

FEEDING

DRY SEED MIXTURE: comprising millets and plain canary seed. Plus small amounts of grey sunflower and Hulled Oats.

FRESH WATER: for drinking and bathing

REGULAR GREENS: such as milk thistle, endive, dandelion, seeding grasses, etc.

CUTTLEFISH, SHELLGRIT, CHARCOAL.

VARIETY FOODS: Apple, corn on cob, capsicum.

HOUSING

AVIARIES*: minimum height 60cm; 7200 sq.cm. first bird, add 3600sq.cm. per extra bird

CAGES*: minimum height 34cm; 1600 sq.cm. first bird, add 800 sq.cm. per extra bird

PLANTS: will chew the plants in the aviary. Beware of toxic plants

MIXING: Often bred in a colony. Not tolerant of any other species. Extreme care should be taken when introducing new birds into an established colony. Each species should be housed separately as hybridization will occur.
