FEEDING
DRY SEED MIXTURE: millets, plain canary plus small amounts of hulled oats
FRESH WATER: for drinking.
REGULAR GREENS: such as finely chopped milk thistle, endive, dandelion, seeding grasses, etc.
CUTTLEFISH, SHELLGRIT, CHARCOAL.
HOUSING
AVIARIES*: minimum height 60cm; 7200 sq.cm. first bird, add 3600sq.cm. per extra bird
CAGES*: minimum height 34cm; 1600 sq.cm. first bird, add 800 sq.cm. per extra bird
PLANTS: destructive to plants in the aviary. Beware of toxic plants
MIXING: Aggressive to other species.
*In Victoria, a Code of Practice for the housing of caged birds applies to the keeping of birds in captivity and requires you to provide adequate space, food, water, etc. for your birds. These codes are available from Agriculture Victoria.
