Conference 2023

Aviculture, Moving Forward.

Proudly hosted by The Goulburn Valley Branch

April 28th – 30th, 2023

The Goulburn Valley Branch of the Aviculture Society of Australia are excited to have been given the opportunity to host the 2023 Aviculture Society of Australia Convention title “Moving Forward”. We are currently looking at ways to improve on the already fantastic Conferences that have been held in the past.

Shepparton is renowned for hosting large corporate functions and with the addition of “SAM” Shepparton Art Museum and “MOVE” The Museum of Vehicle Evolution both opening in 2021 has made the area even better for visitors. Accommodation ranges from caravan parks through to 5 star luxury and most within a short walk from the venue, which also has accommodation on site.

Friday will start as most conventions do and that’s with an aviary visit beginning in Shepparton. After a selection of member’s aviaries we will end with afternoon tea served aboard a fully restored paddle steamer on the mighty Murray River. Leaving from the beautiful Port of Echuca, this cruise will be optional and those that choose not to join can enjoy a walk through the historic Port of Echuca.

There will be a low-key Friday night “meet and greet” back at the venue, where everyone will have a chance to discuss the day’s aviaries over a steak and beer.

Saturday will start bright and early with a full day of excellent speakers not just from all around Australia but from all over the world. Saturday night will feature the event’s evening function with a speaker, a meal and great company.

Sunday will again be an early start with more quality speakers to finish of the official Conference.

However, we would also like to offer to anyone staying on a little longer another aviary visit on the Monday. This will only be confirmed closer to the date dependent on interest shown, so let us know your thoughts.

GV Branch last held a convention back in the 1980’s and we welcome old and new friends back to Greater Shepparton. Please make sure you are one of them.

Aviary Visits:

The two optional Aviary visits on Friday 28th of April and Monday 1st of May will both include lunch. These will feature different aviaries for each day. Be sure to include them in your conference package. This will be a great opportunity to meet other like-minded people and view a variety of birds and aviaries. A great way to start the convention, and a great way to end it.
Make sure you include one or both in your Conference Package.

Pricing:

Your dinner on Saturday night is included in registration. If you would like to bring a partner/guest to the dinner an extra cost is required of $70.00

Your registration provides you with attendance at all sessions, lunches, refreshments, Conference dinner on Saturday night and Conference proceedings.

Drinks are at bar prices for the Conference dinner.

After the tour on Friday we will stop at the historic port of Echuca. There will be time to walk around and enjoy the scenery. Alternately there will be the option to take a scenic tour on a paddle steamer of the Murray River. (Cost not included).

Venue:

The convention will be held at the Parklake at Shepparton. Please make sure you mention that you are a guest at the Avicultural Convention when booking.
